{month 9}

I know, I know. This is incredibly late, and incredibly short. To be fair, I did start this before you turned 9 months old...then life got in the way and I didn't make time to complete it.  I failed this month. Let's make a deal - if I fill this post with lots of pictures of the cute baby, I'll put more effort into next month's blog. Deal? Deal.

You have officially been out of my body longer than you were inside of my body. That makes this mama's heart so incredibly sad and happy at the same time. Happy 9 months, sweet boy. Once again, you've conquered so many milestones, and are actively trying to achieve new ones. My heart has never been happier than it is being with you (except for maybe being with your daddy, too :D)

Your 9th month was spent all over the place (but again, are you surprised?). Traveling seems to be the theme of your life! At the end of July, you spent a few days at Uncle Coco & Aunt Katie's house. Mama was at home office for a training, and they let you stay with them. You had so much fun playing with your cousins. I love the love they have for you, and how much you love watching them and all that they do. I hope that bond stays strong through the years :)

twins.

That same week, we left for the beach! We left on Friday afternoon to head to Bainbridge to meet Mema, Poppa, Uncle Cale, and Alexa. Saturday morning, we left and made it to the beach by mid-morning. That was SUCH a long car ride. You were cutting your third tooth, and were so ornery (you were actually ornery that whole week since it took 2 weeks for that tooth to come in). I couldn't WAIT to get your little feet in the sand and water. Sweet boy - you LOVE the beach. You weren't the biggest fan of the waves - we tried putting you in a big raft, but you didn't love it. If sand boxes didn't get so gross, I'd get you one in a heartbeat. You were digging around and shoveling sand in your mouth by the handfuls. That pained your sand-hating mama more than you know. I don't mind walking in sand or touching it, but I hate when I get it all over me...or when I'm holding a baby and he gets it all over me ;)

How do you entertain a baby during a 4 hour car trip? Feed. Him.

First time you put those toes in the ocean

The beach was a week of many firsts for you! You learned to crawl on August 5! It was such a fun moment to watch. You then proceeded to crash and burn, but you crawled nonetheless. I didn't let you crawl around on the floor too much at the beach house, solely because it weirded me out to let you crawl all over a floor that I didn't clean myself. I also may have forgotten that you could crawl, and let you fall off of the couch straight onto the floor for the first time on August 6. Whoops :/ Of course, I had to reward you with your first ice cream after that happened. I didn't actually get you your own ice cream, but you ate at least 1/2 of mine and loved it!

The weekend that we came home from the beach, we celebrated August birthdays at Mimi and G's. I love these pictures of you and Grandmother!

When we got home from the beach, we let you have free reign of the floor. August 11th was when you really learned to crawl. There's no stopping you now! You've also discovered Cooper's food bowl. I don't know why babies are so fascinated by dog food, but you've gotten more spanks over that food  Your new tooth finally broke through on August 12th, the day before my birthday. I think God knew I didn't want an ornery baby for my birthday! You and your daddy took me on a sweet date for my birthday - it was delicious, and I loved spending time with the both of you.

first that (that we caught you) pulling up

The end of August ended up being a pretty chill month. We relaxed at the house, and went furniture shopping for a new couch. You love shopping! Well, maybe you don't. Maybe I do. But I pretend you do anyway. :)
When did you get big enough to hold your own bottle?

We put you in your crib and you never stay in the same place for too long.

You've got your 9mo checkup next week - I can't wait to see your statistics! Your daddy weighed himself with and without you the other night - the difference is 25lbs. That doesn't surprise me one bit! You are crawling everywhere, and pulling up on every raised object possible. You babble a lot - I'm convinced you've said Mama a few times...but since you don't say it consistently, daddy doesn't think it counts. We both clearly heard you say "UG-AH" the other day. Obviously you're gearing up for college football season - start 'em young, raise 'em right. (can I get an amen?) Eating is probably your favorite past time. Your current favorite foods are sweet potatoes & chicken. You eat a variety of other things, including blueberries, ham, eggs, apples, mac & cheese, ice cream (but only once), baby nutri-grain bars, and yogurt. You usually eat some version of what your dad and I eat for dinner. Grant - last night you ate TEN grilled Chick-fil-A nuggets + 1/2 of a small fry + a baby nutrigain. WHERE DOES IT GO? I think if I left you with a whole container of Puffs, you'd have those demolished in 15 minutes. My favorite part of you eating solid foods is eating WITH you instead of just feeding you. During the weekends, your daddy and I sit at the kitchen table and eat breakfast with you. We usually try to do the same thing at dinner. I love family dinners - your daddy and I both grew up eating dinner at the family dinner table every night, and I want to make sure that we continue to do that as a family, no matter how busy our schedules get.

I said all of that to say - Happy 9 Months, baby boy. I love you to the moon and back.
