This month has been crazy, however I'm not surprised in the least. That seems to be the theme of our lives, especially since you made your grand entrance into this world. I don't think we've spent one full weekend at home this month! You experienced your first snow (that I actually took pictures of, whoops), as well as your first birthday party.
One of my favorite things to do with you is shop (shocker). I love putting you in your stroller and watching you watch everything happening around you. You are so alert. You still don't love when I put you in your carseat - you stick that bottom lip out in the biggest pout I've ever seen. But you usually cheer up as soon as I get you buckled in. We've spent a lot of time "shopping" lately. Even if we don't buy anything, I love strolling through the mall with you! Don't tell your daddy, but you're way cuter arm candy than he is ;)
Towards the end of February, it snowed/rained/iced. A lot. It was never much that stuck, but there were strings of days where we'd see a steady, non-sticking snow. It never failed, it always was snowing while you were asleep. Luckily, during one of your play times, it started snowing, so your daddy and I bundled you up for picture time!
watching the snow fall with daddy
this. it makes me laugh so hard.
poppa got you a camo jacket, and darn it you look adorable!
You're still loving daycare. Well, I don't know if you actually love daycare, or if you just love Ms. Brittany. You did have your first "incident" as they call it last week. You were laying in the bouncer, and some little punk came up and bit you on your sweet little forehead. I'm just kidding - the kid isn't a punk....yet. You're in daycare - these things are just as bound to happen as it is for you to constantly be sick! That doesn't mean your mama isn't teaching you how to fight back. I'll be danged if I'm gonna have a kindergarten playground wimp ;) I kid, I kid. Sorta.
Dr. Seuss day at school. Cutest Thing 1 & Lorax I've ever seen.
First school picture day. Can't WAIT to see how these turn out!
Your future BFF/cousin Henry had his first birthday at the beginning of this month, so we spent the weekend in Grayson celebrating all things Henry! I have yet to get a picture of the two of you together - we need to make that happen soon! Your daddy was at a bachelor party (I'll explain what that is when you're 32. Until then, always say no when someone asks you to go.) part of the weekend, so it was just me and you! Of course, that Friday night was when you started not sleeping. I blamed it on you being out of your "element". And then I blamed it on Daylight Savings Time. But then the rest of the week, you decided to show me that you just didn't want to sleep. You were literally waking up every.single.hour. Apparently there's this thing called a 4 month sleep regression that some babies go through. You, my dear, were one of those babies. You went from sleeping 11 hours to not sleeping. At all. Luckily, that only last about 2.5 weeks. Which is about 2.5 weeks too long, if you ask me. Usually when you "woke up", you still had your eyes closed, but would cry. Your daddy or I could easily get you back to sleep in 2 minutes flat. One Saturday night, we couldn't get you calm for the life of us, so we just laid you in our bed. Buddy Boy, those bugsy eyes of yours popped wide awake, and you just stared at us and grinned and giggled. AT 3 AM. Not cool, but so incredibly cute. All we could do was laugh. You've been back to waking up only once or twice a night. Last night you slept from 7:30pm - 6am, with only one wake up. All I had to do was reposition you and stick your paci back in, and you slept like a champ!! Mama woke up SO refreshed this morning!
cool time with daddy jack
my, my, you two are handsome.
sacked out. tell me those baby mocs aren't adorable.
this little slumped over picture of you makes me giggle.
The same weekend we were in Grayson for Henry's birthday, we took Garner family pictures! Do you know how hard it is to get 5 of you kiddos to all look at the camera at once and smile? Dang near impossible!! But we got some pretty good shots!
Mommy & Daddy had a wedding shower to go to this past weekend, so you spent Saturday night with Mema & Poppa. Let me tell you, buddy boy. I love you more than life itself. However, having a night with a solid 10 hours of sleep was AMAZING. I woke up at 7am startled and wondering why I hadn't woken up...then I remembered you weren't at home! They, of course, loved every minute of having you at their house.
Sweet boy, you amaze your daddy and I every day. You are learning so much and are so incredibly alert. Just in the last couple of weeks, you've started trying to sit up. You can't do it quite yet, but you look like you're doing a serious crunch (red grunting face and all. No? No one else has a red grunting face when doing a crunch? That just me?). On March 15, you rolled from your side to your belly, and were SO surprised at yourself. You love crinkly things and still love ceiling fans. That TV is still your BFF. I will put you on the couch facing the complete opposite direction of the TV and you still manage to find a way to twist yourself around to watch it. One of your favorite things to do right now is jump in your little jumperoo. Your daddy and I started sitting you in it last month, and you just kind of hung out in it and didn't really play with any of the toys on it. Now you will bounce for a solid hour in it and play with all of the little toys. You still can't spin yourself around, and get mad if you get bored. So we rotate you every 20 minutes or so and let you play with a new toy! You absolutely LOVE hearing yourself talk. You babble on and on for days. You've started sitting in your high chair now. Although you still slump a little, you look so grown. We put toys on your tray and watch you have so much fun. You hate laying on your back in the play mat. You can't see what's going on around you, and you're not a fan of that! Bath time is probably the favorite part of your day. You splash and giggle, then splash and giggle some more. You still love staring at yourself in the mirror as we put on lotion & PJ's. If I was that cute, I would too :)
tummy time
your face after you rolled over from your side. kills me.
bath time fun.
oh, that lip.
flash forward 18 years.
tv nerd.
you somehow managed to go from laying on the counter to sliding to sit in the sink.
You're still in the early stages of teething. No teeth are breaking through yet, and you don't have any of the other symptoms of teething. You're constantly gumming at your fists, you love your teething rings, and you drool buckets and buckets each day.
Today is your mama's BFF's birthday. It's crazy to think that this time last year, we were just finding out about you. I remember learning we were pregnant right before Aunt Biz's birthday. My, my, how quickly a year has flown by. I'm trying so hard to cherish the season that we're currently in. It's so easy to look back and say "look how tiny he was", or look forward thinking "I can't wait until you can feed yourself. Or walk. Or talk". I've seen how quickly these weeks fly by, and I don't want to waste the time we have now or miss out on remembering something you've done in this stage of life because I'm too busy wishing for what was or what will be.
faces only a mama could love.
those eyes will always be my favorite feature of yours.
snuggle time with coop.
You, my sweet boy, are still my favorite thing. I look forward to our afternoon cuddles every single day. Cooking supper is way more fun with you sitting on the counter babbling at me. Our bath and bed time ritual is still the highlight of my day. I know I should start letting you cry it out and fall asleep on your own. But I also know that the day is coming when you won't want to fall asleep in your mama's arms. So cherish each moment we will. We will snuggle. We'll smile. We'll make funny faces at each other. Happy 4 months, baby boy.
what? you don't like that cookie? definitely not my baby.
that belly!
happy four months, buddy boy.
*Disclaimer: Buddy Boy is wearing the same outfit in half of these pictures. It's my favorite outfit he owns, so I make him wear it all the time. Sue me.
*Disclaimer 2: My camera died before I could get more 4 month pictures with his sticker. More to come!
